Missing a civil deadline can end a claim. Bring the dates to a consultation. Do not count days from an article on a website.

In the first message, include dates
- The date of the contract, agreement, or alleged breach, if you know it.
- The date of any legal notice you sent or received.
- The date of any hearing already fixed.
- The city and, if you know it, the court. If you do not know the court, say that.
Papers that often matter later
When a meeting is offered, the useful set is usually small: the contract or receipt, the title or possession papers, the notice and any reply, and the last order if a case exists. A large unsorted scan is harder to use than five labelled documents. Do not send that set with the website form.
If a company or a bank is the other side
Say so at the start. A private contract dispute may still be civil work for the principal. A company dispute, a tax notice, or a banking recovery may need a specialist colleague.
